About Genrise

Why we're building Genrise

The digital shelf changed. The tools didn't. We're building what enterprise consumer brands actually need to win in the AI-reader era.

The context

Our team spent years inside enterprise ecommerce technology — working with brands like adidas, L'Oréal, Procter & Gamble, and Unilever. We watched how those brands managed their product content: the agency briefing cycles, the seasonal refreshes, the spreadsheet-driven keyword updates. It worked well enough when the only reader was a human shopper and a search algorithm. Then AI shopping assistants arrived. Then autonomous agents. And the periodic refresh model started to break.

The insight

The insight that led to Genrise was this: every product page now has three fundamentally different audiences, each requiring structurally different content, simultaneously. A human shopper still drives most of the traffic. An AI-assisted human — asking Rufus, Sparky, or ChatGPT — is the fastest-growing segment. And an autonomous agent, selecting and purchasing without human review, is the next frontier. No agency operating on a quarterly refresh cycle can solve that. The only answer is a system that runs continuously.

The build

So we built one. Genrise is the always-on digital shelf system for the AI-reader era — built for serious ecommerce brands, not side hustles.

Anil Gandharve

Co-Founder & CEO

Anil is a business builder focused on solving real problems for enterprise consumer brands. He previously led Mindtree's Retail, CPG & Manufacturing business — the firm's largest unit at the time — where he built the team that turned it into the company's highest-growth unit. Before Genrise, he co-founded Alfahive, bootstrapping cyber risk automation to early revenue alongside real customers. He started his career in the field, made the first sale, and has carried a founder mindset through every role since: act fast, stay close to the customer, and challenge the way things are done when something better is possible.

Bala Ayalur

Co-Founder & CTO

Bala is a hands-on software architect with 27+ years of experience solving complex problems through technology — from assembly code on mainframes to production systems built on generative AI. He has architected enterprise ecommerce platforms for adidas (adidas.com, miadidas.com, reebok.com) and a Product Content Management system for Procter & Gamble, alongside leadership engineering roles at Infosys, Cognizant, and Zensar Technologies. Bala is an entrepreneur at heart — he has co-founded three startups over the past decade, and at Genrise he leads engineering, architecting the platform to handle catalog-scale content workloads with the speed and reliability enterprise brands require.
